What to do at the top

  • Walk to the Christ statue for the classic photo
  • Wander the 4-hectare botanical garden with signed species
  • Stop at the small chapel and museum
  • Relax at the summit cafe with a Presidente beer
  • Do one of the short signed trails (30-60 min)

Tips for a smooth visit

Arrive early. The first ride at 9:00 AM is least crowded and clearest. By 11:00 AM clouds start rolling in on humid days. Weekends and cruise days can mean 30 to 60 minute queues. Credit cards work at the window but bring cash for tips and the top cafe.

Fit it in your Puerto Plata plan

The cable car takes 2 to 3 hours including transit. Pair with the Victorian old town (15 minutes away) for a full morning. Or combine with Damajagua via a 2-in-1 day tour. See our 2-day itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Round trip tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children on the Dominican peso equivalent, roughly 800 DOP and 500 DOP. Foreigners pay about $20-25 at the window. Combo tours with hotel pickup are $40-60.

The summit holds a 16-meter Christ statue inspired by Rio de Janeiro, a botanical garden with labeled Dominican plants, a small chapel, a cafe with views and several short hiking trails. The viewpoint looks down on Puerto Plata and the Atlantic coast.

Yes on a clear day. The 360-degree view from Mount Isabel covers the coastline, the city and the countryside. Go in the morning for the clearest skies. Skip it on cloudy days since the view is the main attraction.
